What I Read

  • Literary Fiction
  • Mysteries
  • Books with LGBTQ characters
  • Historical fiction
  • Non-Fiction
    • Gender/Queer studies
    • History
    • Literary criticism/books about books
    • Memoir & Biography
    • Politics/Current Events

What I Read Sometimes

  • Young Adult fiction
  • Fantasy
  • Horror
  • Short Stories
  • Graphic Novels

What I Don’t Read

  • Self-Help Books, especially diet books
  • Christian fiction
  • Romance
  • Self-Published books
  • Erotica (I don’t review it, anyway)
  • Any book where the mom a) gets cancer and/or b) dies. Especially if it is a major plot of the novel. (Note: I welcome “spoilers” for any book in which this happens, even if it’s a minor thread)

My Slightly Ridiculous Weaknesses

  • Funny footnotes
  • Fictionalized historical documents
  • Loyal cats (who don’t die)

I have an iPad and I am open to reading e-galleys and e-books.

If you would like me to review a book, you can e-mail me at bonjourcass@gmail.com. If I finish the book, I will write about it, and it will be an honest review. If I don’t finish the book, I will not write a review. I reserve the right to not finish a book.

    Hi Cassandra,

I am working as an intern for Tor-Forge Books at Macmillan this summer. One of my main responsibilities has been to update our main database, Publicity Assistant. I am contacting you in order to verify that you are interested in receiving review copies or galley books from us in a variety of genres including science fiction, fantasy, paranormal romance, horror, etc. If so, please respond to this e-mail with your main contact information including a mailing address, phone number and e-mail that you check often. You can also call me with any questions at (646) 307-5636. Thanks so much and have a great day!

    Best,

    Allison Rahill

    Publicity Intern, Tor Publicity

  2. My favorite line of your review policy…

“If I don’t finish the book, I will not write a review.”

If I ever decide to put up a review policy, I might ask you if I can steal it, haha!
